A Proper Sendoff

Hello to all you NEAT folks out there,

After a wonderful and productive three and a half years – wow, I never imagined I’d say that back in June 2013 – the editors of NEAT have decided to close up shop.

For now, we will still maintain the past issues on our website, though we will no longer pay for the domain. In September 2017, look for us at neatmag.wordpress.com. That is when our time will be up on neatmag.net.

It’s been an amazing journey with all of you. We’ve both learned so much about writing, editing, publishing, communication, teamwork, marketing, time management (I could go on…). We’re so proud of our final products and all you contributors should be too.

Thanks for taking a chance on us and thanks for caring so damn much about this publication.

Have a spectacular new year – and if you know anyone looking for a couple of talented copywriters, copy editors, content marketers, etc., send them our way.

Cheers!

How’s Your Day Going?

If you’re anything like the editors (who are also writers) of NEAT, Monday is not your favorite day. Deadlines seem to come quicker, emails more frequently, and you’re looking down the long road that is your work week schedule.

We feel you.

In order to make this Monday a little more creative and to give you a reason for another coffee break, we present you with the latest issue of NEAT.

We have some amazing contributors and are so excited to share their work with you.

If you love NEAT in general, or this issue specifically, feel free to send us some love on your social media sites. We love retweeting, interacting, and engaging with all of you.

Keep it neat.

We’re back!

Hello, everyone! Liz here.

You’ve probably noticed that we’ve been pretty mum lately. TM and I have been busy with our full-time work and haven’t been spending as much time on NEAT. as we would have liked. The result was an unofficial hiatus as we got everything under control.

But we’re back now!

To business: Submissions are open until May 1st. This is a little different for us. We’ve decided to make the magazine a biannual instead of a quarterly – with our lives as busy as they are (we’re not students anymore!), we found that we weren’t able to devote adequate time to making four great issues per year. So now we’re giving ourselves – and you! – the time to breathe and focusing our energy on two issues instead. We’re still going to publish amazing work – so we hope you can get on board as we make this transition.

With a May 1 deadline, we’re hoping to have a completed magazine out by June 1. Send us everything! Any theme. Be sure to check out the submission guidelines.

And if you haven’t – be sure to check out the Summer 2015 issue. It’s full of great prose and poetry, and we’re proud of it. Maybe you’ll find something in here to latch onto.

That’s all I have for now! We’re both looking forward to reading everything you send our way.

It’s almost here . . .

. . . Submissions Day! Get those subs in! We’re waiting to read your fiction, non-fiction, and poetry — no theme, no worries. Get it in by Monday.

PSA: neatmag.tumblr.com is in need of some love.

In case you weren’t aware, we’ve started a Tumblr page. This is to compensate for the removal of the photography section from our issues. We loved the work we were receiving–there’s no denying that–we just thought there might be a better way to display that work. If you agree with us, consider following and/or submitting to our Tumblr.

Help us to accrue some more reviews

If you’re not feeling the poem you just wrote, or the creative non-fiction piece, or the flash fiction, or the photography, or just need a break from all of that, please consider sending us inquiries on reviews. This is a new feature to our magazine and we’d love assistance in making this section of our site grow. Along the same lines of us loving book recommendations, reviews take those recommendations the extra step. Here is the reviews page to see which reviews we’ve already published.
